The 78th Golden Globe Awards were last week and we just kicked off Women’s History Month. I want to know who’s everyone’s favorite Black actress from the past or present? To kick us off, mine are Viola Davis, Wunmi Mosaku, and Tessa Thompson.
I love me some Phylicia Rashad. She is amazing on everything she does. A few more women that I think are great would be Lynn Whitfield and Alfre Woodard. If we go old school, you have Ruby Dee, Dorothy Dandridge, and especially Hatty “Mammy” McDaniels; these women paved the way for all black women actresses.
All great actresses! There's a movie called "Black Box" on Amazon Prime that Phylicia Rashad kills. Great movie, but her acting sealed the deal. Alfre Woodard in the first season of Luke Cage was the villain I never knew I needed.
Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Regina King (whatever they put out I love)
Angela Bassett and Regina King are up there for me as well. Regina's performance in the Watchmen limited series was perfection.
